Pack2Go Europe Urges Support For EU Litter Prevention Initiative
Brussels, 08 December 2014: Europe’s food and beverage service and convenience packaging manufacturers today urged a broad coalition of business interests to get behind the Clean Europe Network. The Network is holding the first ever Stop Litter Now! Summit in Brussels on 9/10 December. The Network, which Pack2Go Europe helped form in 2013, brings together Europe’s leading litter prevention organisations.
Cleaning the towns and countryside costs in excess of €13 billion annually in Europe, with that figure set to rise.
“The Clean Europe Network has done amazing work in just a year to tackle some key challenges, like developing a common way to monitor litter or preparing a toolbox to help local authorities understand where and how litter gets into rivers and canals, so they can stop it” says Tony Waters who was closely involved in getting the Network on its feet when he was President of Pack2go Europe in 2013. “Industry really needs to support this sort of pioneering work that will really make a difference.”
